Stake casino is the biggest name in crypto gambling. It pays out fast, sponsors football clubs and UFC fighters, and runs one of the busiest sportsbooks online. Yet it has no welcome banner at all. So how does a casino this big reward its players?

We opened the chart, read the help center line by line and put our own money through the cashier. Here is what we found.

Is Stake casino legit? Owner and licence

Stake.com is run by Medium Rare N.V., company number 145353 in Curacao. It holds a licence from the Curacao Gaming Authority, number OGL/2024/1451/0918. We also opened the official certificate. It reads Granted and Active, with stake.com listed as the approved domain.

This is the new Curacao licence, issued under the 2024 gaming law, not the old sublicence system. Under the new regime, the regulator licenses the operator directly. Still, Curacao is not the UK or Malta. If a dispute goes wrong, the regulator is a long way from your problem.

Medical history: from Primedice to Everton

Ed Craven and Bijan Tehrani started with Primedice, a Bitcoin dice game, back in 2013. Then, in June 2017, they launched Stake with a team of seven. Later, the same founders started Kick, the streaming platform.

Then came the sponsorships. Stake was Everton’s main shirt partner for four seasons. From 2026/27 it moved to the sleeve, because Premier League clubs dropped gambling brands from the front of the shirt. It also ran the Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber in 2024 and 2025, and it still partners with the UFC.

The record has scars too. For example, Stake left the UK market in March 2025. In August 2025, Drake, its most famous ambassador, publicly complained about blocked withdrawals. Of course, both stories made headlines. Neither changed how the cashier treated us, but they belong in the file.

Stake casino bonus: no welcome banner, a steady drip instead

First of all, there is no big first deposit match on the homepage. According to the Stake help center, new players get a welcome offer only through an affiliate offer code. Instead, Stake spreads its money across the whole life of an account.

• Weekly Boost: posted every Saturday at 12:30 GMT in the VIP Telegram channel.
• Monthly bonus: sent by email, based on your VIP level and recent play.
• Level-up bonus: paid each time you reach a new VIP level.
• Drop codes: case-sensitive codes for players who meet the posted conditions.
• Birthday bonus: yes, really.

Now the honest maths. Rakeback is 3.5% of the edge, not of your stake. For example, say you bet $10,000 on a slot with a 4% edge. The house expects to keep $400, and rakeback returns $14 of it. On a 1% Originals game, however, the same $10,000 gives back $3.50.

Stake casino VIP club

The VIP Club opens at $10,000 in total bets. After that, the ladder climbs to a billion. Here are the thresholds from Stake’s own help pages:

One detail helps sports bettors a lot.

A sports bet counts three times toward VIP progress, so $1 on football moves you as far as $3 on slots. At higher VIP levels, you also get a personal VIP host.

Reloads: the Platinum prescription

Reloads are where Stake gets generous, but only from Platinum. In short, a reload is a bonus you claim every day for a set period. Its size depends on your VIP level and on what you wagered over the last 7 to 42 days. Stake also says a losing stretch makes the reload a bit bigger.

• Platinum I: a 14-day reload, claimed daily.
• Platinum II: a 28-day reload.
• Platinum III: a 42-day reload.
• Platinum IV and up: reloads for as long as you stay active, daily or even hourly through your VIP host.

Miss a day and that day’s reload is gone. So if you reach Platinum, log in every day, even if you do not play.

Races, raffles and challenges

Stake runs several standing promotions on top of the VIP rewards. Also, you enter most of them just by playing.

• The $100,000 Race: a leaderboard every 24 hours. The top 5,000 players by wager win prizes.
• The $75,000 Weekly Raffle: one ticket for every $1,000 you bet on the casino or the sportsbook.
• Conquer the Casino: weekly targets on selected games, with fixed prizes for hitting them.

For a casual player, these are lottery tickets. The race rewards volume, so high rollers take most of it. So treat them as extras on play you planned anyway.

The Stake forum and chat

Stake has a real community, and it pays to know it. The Stake forum posts new challenges every week. Some giveaways ask for at least ten genuine forum posts first, and spam gets you warned.

In addition, the chat next to the games is busy. Community managers run daily rains, trivia and roll hunts there. Meanwhile, the Telegram channels post news, and the VIP channel posts the Weekly Boost. Be careful though: fake Stake accounts on Telegram and X are common, so take codes only from official channels.

Stake Originals and provably fair games

Stake builds its own games, the Stake Originals. Dice, Limbo, Crash, Plinko, Mines, Keno and Wheel all list a 1% house edge. Blackjack sits near 0.5% with perfect strategy, while single-zero roulette keeps its usual 2.7%.

On top of that, every Original is provably fair. Before you play, Stake shows a hashed server seed. You set your own client seed, and each bet adds a nonce. Once you rotate the seed pair, the real server seed appears, and you can check any past round on Stake or on an independent verifier. However, third-party slots do not use this system.

Slots, live casino and poker

Three rules worth knowing. First, you need a verified email, plus your 2FA or email code, to withdraw. Second, depositing and withdrawing without betting counts as coin mixing, and Stake will reject that withdrawal. Third, large withdrawals can go to manual review, which means a short hold. When Stake asks for documents

Stake runs four levels of verification. Each one asks for a little more:

• Level 1: your name, date of birth and address.
• Level 2: a passport, national ID or driving licence, photographed, not scanned or screenshotted.
• Level 3: proof of address, such as a utility bill or bank statement from the last six months.

Security: the 2023 hack

On 4 September 2023, attackers drained about $41 million from Stake’s hot wallets on Ethereum, BNB Chain and Polygon. Two days later, the FBI named North Korea’s Lazarus Group as the thief. Stake paused the cashier for a few hours, then reopened it. Stake said player funds were safe.

In other words, the house took that hit, not the players. Still, protect your own account: turn on 2FA, use a unique password and never log in through a link from chat.

What other patients say

When we checked in October 2026, Trustpilot showed 3.9 out of 5 from more than 12,000 reviews. That is high for a casino. About 64% of reviews give five stars, and 23% give one.

The negative reviews follow a pattern. Players, many of them from India, mention deposits that did not arrive, slow answers from support and KYC checks after bigger wins.

Stake keeps its tools under Stake Smart in your account menu. A Break in Play locks the account for a day, two days, a week or a month, then reopens it on its own. Self-exclusion has no end date and lasts at least six months. After that, you need a review to come back.
